Great Walks

There are many great places around the city where you can go to enjoy a days walk. The Waimahanga Walkway passes through a mangrove habitat and will give you the chance to enjoy some of the natural beauty found in the area. Another ideal place to go for a walk is the beautiful tropical oasis that sits in the city’s centre.

New Animal Friends

The Kamo Wildlife Sanctuary is home to some of the most intriguing wildlife creatures. Lions, tigers and other majestic animals can be seen roaming in spacious enclosed areas. Staff members who work for the sanctuary are available to answer questions and provide more information on the importance of wildlife conservation. Kiwi North is another great place where you can go to see some indigenous animals and learn more about the area’s natural history.

Fascinating Museums

You won’t have to travel far to find several terrific museums that you can visit. The Waipu Museum pays homage to the event in history known as the Great Migration.
